La Fosse Executive has been named in Hunt Scanlon’s London PE Power 50, the annual ranking of the 50 most prominent executive search firms serving the private equity sector in London.

The recognition reflects nearly two decades of sustained specialism in technology and transformation leadership within PE-backed businesses, and comes as demand for that specialism continues to intensify across the private equity market.

Technology leadership in private equity has become structurally more demanding

The demands placed on technology and transformation leaders within PE-backed businesses have shifted considerably over the past decade, and the complexity of finding and assessing those leaders has increased in step.  The margin for error is small, and the consequences of a misaligned appointment extend well beyond the search itself.

Funds and portfolio companies have responded by raising their expectations of their search partners, looking for advisers who understand the investment context, the pace of a transaction environment, and the specific demands of technology and transformation mandates at different stages of a portfolio company’s life.

Ross Tanner, Managing Partner at La Fosse Executive, commented: “Private equity is not a secondary market for us. Approximately 85% of our work sits within the private equity ecosystem, and that concentration is deliberate. The firms we work with are not looking for generalists. They are looking for advisers who understand the commercial context of a mandate, and the particular demands placed on technology and transformation leaders in businesses with an active value creation agenda.”

How sustained specialism changes what is possible

La Fosse Executive’s consultants operate exclusively within their functional specialisms, which means the consultant working a mandate understands the talent markets they are drawing from, the commercial realities their clients are navigating, and the nuances of the roles they are assessing candidates against. That depth is what allows the firm to move at the pace private equity requires without compromising the rigour those appointments demand.

In 2025, 97% of permanent searches were completed, 90% of revenue came from returning clients, and 81% of permanent hires remained in post beyond 18 months, compared with an industry norm of 40 to 50%.

“That last figure is the one we pay most attention to,” Ross added, “because it speaks directly to the quality of assessment and cultural alignment that underpins every mandate we take on. Getting those appointments right requires more than access to a network. It requires a deep understanding of the client context, the stage of the portfolio company, and what good looks like for that specific mandate, not a generic definition of it.”

What the Hunt Scanlon London PE Power 50 recognises

Hunt Scanlon’s London PE Power 50 recognises the executive search firms that have demonstrated consistent capability in serving the private equity sector from London, across fund and portfolio company level mandates. Inclusion reflects track record, market presence and the depth of relationships firms have built within the private equity community over time.

For La Fosse Executive, the ranking is an external validation of an approach the firm has maintained since 2007: sustained specialism in technology and transformation, a focus on private equity as the market where that specialism is most acutely needed, and a commitment to the quality of process that makes a meaningful difference to outcomes.
